West End Befrienders is a voluntary organisation and registered charity which has been operating in the West End of Newcastle since 1984. The aim of the project is to help frail, older and disabled people to live more independently within the community. To read more of the history click here

Our befrienders are all local volunteers who make regular calls and act as friends to either support the people they visit in their own homes, or accompany them to access local services and facilities, such as shops or medical appointments.
